NYSASWM Christiansen-Roller-White Founders' Scholarship Program
The Christiansen-Roller-White Founders' Scholarship was named
in honor of Howard Christiansen, Robert H. Roller, and William
White.
These three men who ran solid waste systems in what now is
designated as NYSASWM's Western region were instrumental in
starting the organization that has become 400-plus members strong
since its inception in 1975.
NYSASWM is an organization which strives for proper solid waste
management by utilizing the hierarchy of reduction, reuse, recycling,
energy recovery and engineered landfills. An important part
of the Association’s mission is to promote the education
of the next generation of New York’s solid waste managers.
Therefore, the Association is proud to sponsor this scholarship
program.
This scholarship program is open to full-time college students
entering their sophomore, junior or senior year and full-time
students entering or in graduate school. Eligible candidates
should be pursuing a degree in environmental science, planning,
engineering or other suitable major related to the field of
solid waste management at a New York College or University.
Preference will be given to children of NYSASWM members.
Organic waste composting, waste reduction, thermal degradation,
electronics recycling, greenhouse gas emission reduction and
product stewardship are just a few of the areas that NYSASWM
is involved with to enhance solid waste management practices
in New York State.
